This Privacy Policy explains how Sungrid (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Sungrid iPhone app and this website.

Information we process

Sungrid is designed to work without accounts.

Depending on how you use the app, we may process:

• Location information (optional): If you choose “Current Location”, the app uses your device location to fetch forecasts for your area. You can also search for places and select them manually.
• Search queries: When you search for a place name, the query is sent to a geocoding provider to return matching locations.
• Network request metadata: Like most services, our infrastructure and providers may receive your IP address, user agent, and request timing for security and troubleshooting.
• On-device storage: The app stores preferences (e.g., units) and cached forecast responses locally on your device to improve speed and reliability.

We do not currently require you to create an account.

How we use this information

We use information to:

• Provide weather and sunlight forecasts for the locations you request.
• Improve reliability (caching, rate limiting, debugging errors).
• Respond to support requests when you contact us.

Sharing and third parties

Sungrid relies on third-party services to operate:

• Weather data provider: Forecast data is fetched from a weather API provider.
• Geocoding provider: Place search and reverse geocoding use a geocoding service.
• Hosting/CDN: Our API and website are hosted using cloud infrastructure.

These providers process data only to provide their services to us.

Your choices

• You can deny or revoke location permission in iOS Settings. You can still use Sungrid by manually selecting locations.
• You can clear the app’s local storage by deleting the app.
